Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships 2023

The School of Economics & Finance (SEF) at Queen Mary University of London encourages outstanding postdoctoral scholars to apply to the 2023 round of the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship Scheme.

Fellows will be part of our dynamic research environment. SEF is one of the leading UK Economics and Finance departments, with more than 40 research active faculty, and a vibrant community of PhD students involved in world class research in applied microeconomics, macroeconomics, microeconomic theory, econometrics, empirical and theoretical finance. Located in London’s thriving East End, at Mile End campus and the doorsteps of the City, the School is hosted in state-of-the-art facilities in the New Graduate Centre. The UK’s most inclusive Russell Group University according to The Times, Queen Mary is a multi-faculty university with over 28,000 students, 4,400 members of staff and 5 campuses around London.

We would be delighted to hear from postdoctoral candidates working in relevant subject areas who are considering applying to the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship Scheme.

We are able to support a limited number of fellowship applications and will offer individual support and feedback in preparing applications to candidates selected to be put forward to the funder following our internal section process, details of which are below.

You are strongly encouraged to contact the members of staff closest to your research interests (email addresses are available on our website). Please note that we do not match prospective applicants with mentors.

In order to consider your application, we require potential candidates to submit:

• A bullet point list that confirms you meet the Leverhulme Trust’s eligibility requirements. These can be found on the Trust’s website.
• An academic CV (not more than 2 pages of A4) indicating your previous qualifications, publications and any other academic or public engagement activities. Candidates should demonstrate a record of publications appropriate to the stage of their career, but at least one publication will be expected.
• An outline research proposal. This should include: title, abstract (250 words), details of current and past research (250 words), detailed statement of proposed research (no more than 2 pages of A4). Please refer to the Leverhulme Guidelinesfor additional help on what to include in this statement.
• A statement on why QMUL would be a good institutional fit, which includes a proposed mentor for your project and how your research activities might contribute to the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS) at QMUL (250 words).

These documents should be sent as a single pdf to Isabella D'Adamo by 21 November 2022 at noon (GMT).

Your application will be considered internally by the VP Group, and you will be notified whether you have been selected to submit your application to the Leverhulme Trust by the end of December. Submission to the Leverhulme Trust must take place by the 23 February 2023.
