Description: Can we design academic misconduct out of assessment? Can we adopt a preventative approach focusing on assessment for and as learning, while preserving assessment integrity?
This interactive workshop explores assessment through the lens of academic integrity and helps you identify ways in which you can utilise assessment design to minimise the risk of academic misconduct while maximising student engagement.
Specific topics covered include:
Why students may be vulnerable to academic misconduct
What kinds of assessments may be more likely to attract misconduct
The student experience of assessment at programme level and module level
The role that formative assessment can play
How assignment briefs can be worded
The use of Artificial Intelligence for academic content generation and what this may mean for assessment design
You will have an opportunity to discuss and evaluate assessment examples from your own practice or ideas for new forms of assessment. We will brainstorm ways of creating a compassionate assessment environment that can reduce academic misconduct, and in which students’ assessment literacy is promoted and students are supported to engage in assessment in a meaningful and authentic way.
You will leave the session with practical ideas on ways in which you can review your existing assessment design or design new assessments for integrity.
Please note that you will receive a pre-webinar questionnaire to collect information on your current practice and key concerns. You are strongly encouraged to bring with you examples of current assessment and/or new assessment ideas you would like to review in the session.
