The School of Law and the School of the Arts (STA) are delighted to be hosting this inaugural research colloquium on the theme of character. This initiative is part of a series of collaborations between the two School, both with respect to teaching and research. 'Character' is an important concept / device for both law and literature, as well as other forms of art, and one with a deep history, e.g., in rhetoric (ethos, ethopoeia, prosopopoeia). This colloquium is an informal opportunity to exchange examples and think together about how character matters to research in both Schools.

The format is that there are four conversation starters (2 from each School) who will each bring an example of 'character' and speak for 10 minutes, by way of triggering conversation. There will then be discussion, with drinks planned for after the event.

Chair: Maks Del Mar (School of Law) and co-organised with Alfred Hiatt (School of the Arts).
