Strategic Lectureships based in the School of Business and Management

The lectureships/senior lectureships are permanent positions, open to candidates who can demonstrate that they are able to build on our existing strengths and add strategic, additional capacity to our core areas of expertise. More information, a job pack and online application form are available here.

Applicants’ expertise and research interests should ideally focus on the following themes identified across the Faculty, and applications are particularly welcomed from those with experience of interdisciplinary research which would connect to the activity of the Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences, and who demonstrate capacity to contribute to the further development of the Faculty’s interdisciplinary links and foci:

  • Environment, sustainability and climate
  • Public humanities and public policy
  • Big data and digital humanities
  • Health and well-being
  • Equalities, inequalities and diversity

The School of Business and Management has identified the following strategic priority areas for these posts.

The Centre for Globalisation Research welcomes applications from climate change and resource economists with a research focus on climate change mitigation or adaptation, the environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact of businesses, or on any other area relevant to the climate and environmental policy debate. Successful candidates will have a strong background in econometrics and geospatial data analysis. Knowledge of machine learning techniques will be a plus.

The Centre for Labour and Global Production is looking for critical and interdisciplinary scholarship, at the intersection of political economy and political ecology, that explores the relation between global production and labour with particular reference to 1) the fast and growing development of 'green frontiers’ industries (energy, manufacturing, food) and their emerging labour regimes and forms of environmental stewardships, and 2) the long-lasting relevance of financial systems (e.g. critical analyses of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance funds), global and national tax regimes and their relations to corporations. Within these particular industries and sectors, the centre is especially interested in analyses that grasp the relation between global production and labour across different spheres, including the social reproduction of reproductive spaces (e.g. land and other ecological assets as well as care, education, welfare) and reproductive workers and their fragmentation across racial, gender, religious, and citizenship lines.

The Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity is especially interested to hear from candidates focusing on areas of research that complement and expand on existing expertise within the Centre. While extant research on gender within work, careers, management and organizations has grown enormously over the past couple of decades, the same cannot be said for research on race/ethnicity, disability and age. Therefore, we particularly encourage applications from researchers focusing on the study of race, disability and age as well as those looking at inequalities and legally protected characteristics from an intersectional perspective.

The School of Business and Management is committed to socially impactful research and hence keen to receive applications from researchers whose work in the areas outlined below has significance and reach beyond academia.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 7th January 2022. Interviews will take place from February 2022.
