Information for Current SBM Students

At the School of Business and Management our undergraduate students have the opportunity to study in a partner institution in Europe for one or two semesters as part of their degree via the global opportunity's programme.

Students normally participate in the exchange in their second year of studies. Joint programme students should consult with their home departments about their eligibility to participate in exchange programmes.

Our new BSc International Business with a Year Abroad focusses on global business developments and our new BSc Business Management with Chinese and Year Abroad allows students to immerse themselves in business management theories and Chinese language and culture. Students of both programmes will spend the third year of the degree studying at one of our international partner universities.

Fees and Funding

If you are going abroad for one optional semester, you are responsible for paying full tuition fees to Queen Mary for the year during which you are abroad (with minimum 10 weeks of that year spent at Queen Mary).

If you are spending the full academic year abroad, you pay a reduced tuition fee to Queen Mary for that year. Find out more about tuition fees on Queen Mary’s Student Funding and Finance page.

You will not have to pay any university tuition fees (or fees for registration, examination, laboratory or library access facilities, etc) to your host institution, whether you study abroad on exchange for one semester or the full year. However, you may be charged small fees for costs such as insurance, student union membership or the use of materials (such as photocopying, laboratory supplies etc) on the same basis as local students.

Applications Process

The application process is done centrally through the Queen Mary Global Opportunities Office and information can be found on the Queen Mary Global Opportunities web page.
