As an international student from Hong Kong, what was it that attracted you to London and Queen Mary in particular?

As an international student from Hong Kong, I always fancied living in one of the world's best and most vibrant cities. Therefore, I chose to study in London as it is the most international and culturally diverse city globally. I chose Queen Mary for my undergraduate study because it is the only university in London with a campus, which enabled me to have a vibrant university life.

What aspects of your degree did you find most enjoyable and was there anything that surprised you in your studies?

I absolutely enjoyed and loved every bit of my degree! Ranging from the knowledge gained from the lectures and tutorials to the people I met from around the globe, who are now my lifelong friends. I was also surprised by the diversity and the history of the university, which provided me with a strong alumni network around the globe.

Can you describe your career path to date and what you do now?

After graduating from Queen Mary with First Class Honours, I obtained an MSc in Accounting and Finance with a Distinction at the London School of Economics (LSE). Afterwards, I worked as a Guest Teacher at LSE and the City University of Hong Kong. Then I made a career move to KPMG as an Associate Consultant in the Risk Advisory Team.

How did your experiences at Queen Mary help prepare you for your career?

Queen Mary provided me with excellent fundamental knowledge in accounting and management and a great opportunity to connect with people worldwide. My experiences at Queen Mary shaped me to be an open-minded and more presentable person, which prepared me to present my ideas clearly to senior colleagues and clients.

What do you enjoy most about what you do now?

I’m currently an Associate Consultant in the Forensic Advisory Team at KPMG. I advise different financial institutions to improve their risk management strategy and framework. The best part of my job is that I’m given the responsibility early on and the opportunity to work with senior colleagues and clients. At KPMG, I also have the chance to work alongside a vibrant team with professionals from around the world.
