Our five-year Medicine MBBS Malta offers you the same curriculum as that taught at the Barts medical school in London.
Students are awarded a Medicine MBBS from Queen Mary University of London (Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry).
Students are taught in Malta by staff from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Queen Mary University of London’s medical faculty) and local clinicians trained by the School. You’ll gain the Barts and The London medicine undergraduate experience while living in the Mediterranean. It’s a great place to study medicine abroad.
Annual fees for the Malta medicine programme are €19,500 for 2019 entry, for UK/EU, and international (non-EU) students.
Queen Mary charges fees annually for its programmes of study. There is an annual increase on an inflationary basis and/or in line with government policy and regulation.
The GMC recognises bodies to award primary medical qualifications and the process has started to quality assure the QMUL Malta Programme and its first undergraduate medicine programme. This takes the form of a year by year review following the first cohort to graduation. Only during the final year of the programme will the GMC be able to confirm the programme meets the GMC standards outlined in Promoting excellence: standards in medical education and training. There can be no guarantee that this will be the outcome of the quality assurance process and the QMUL Malta programme has contingency arrangements in place with the home university programme of QMUL in London, so that students enrolled in the programme who are successfully passing all assessments, will be able to complete their studies and graduate with a GMC recognised medical qualification.
We are proud to be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, developed through a partnership between the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) and the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER).
Our problem-based learning (PBL) produces doctors trained in thinking strategies along with subject knowledge which is further enhanced through early clinical placements. The programme places considerable emphasis on developing your expertise in a whole range of practical areas, including clinical, communication, observation, team work and management skills.
MBBS Malta is a Queen Mary University of London degree which is recognised in many countries around the world. However, we still ask that all candidates applying for MBBS Malta contact their respective Medical Council/Ministry of Health to check whether the degree is accepted and recognised in their home country. Written confirmation is advised.
If you decide to study with us in Malta, you’ll live and work in a wonderful Mediterranean location. From prehistoric temples to world-class scuba diving facilities and watersports, clear blue seas and white sandy beaches, festivals and football, there’s plenty to see and do here. Malta is a welcoming and safe country, full of variety. Living here will be an unforgettable experience.
The programmes will be based on Gozo, one of the three islands that make up the Republic of Malta. Malta has a dazzling history, spanning 7,000 years: the islands have three UNESCO World Heritage sites (including the entire Maltese capital, Valletta). More recently, you might have seen Malta on TV: the islands provide some of the stunning locations for Game of Thrones.
We know student life can be challenging at times and you may need some additional support. We have a wide range of support on every aspect of student life: you’ll have the same level of support as our London students. We’ll help you get the most out of life as an QMUL Malta student and achieve your full potential.
We are one of the best universities to study medicine in the UK. Our programme (the same curriculum you’ll study in Malta) was placed in the top ten in the UK in the Guardian University Guide 2019 and the Complete University Guide 2019 medicine rankings. We were also ranked first in London for student satisfaction in the 2018 National Student Survey for the third year running.
