Select a pathway that suits your research and career plans, from either Conversion, General, Specialisation in Sociolinguistics, or Specialisation in Formal Linguistics.

Our Linguistics MA also includes an optional Research Practicum, where you can take a placement researching with a linguist in the department.

This Applied Linguistics programme will equip you with technical and advanced expertise in how human language works and how it is used in specific real-life settings, with implications for interpersonal relationships, business interactions and effective communication in various in-person, online, and tech-mediated contexts.

The MA includes the opportunity to work as a Research Assistant on one of the department's ongoing research projects and/or to take part in a Research Practicum with one of our private or public sector partners.
