Fees and scholarships
At Queen Mary we want to encourage the best qualified students into subject areas which have been identified as essential to UK economic growth, and which are highly sought after by employers.
Tuition fees
Undergraduate degree students are charged tuition fees each year by Queen Mary University of London. The rate you will be charged depends on whether you are assessed as a Home or an EU/Overseas student. Home students will not have to pay your fees while studying – the government will lend eligible students the money, which you will have to start paying back once you have left university and are earning at least £25,000.
Visit the Queen Mary website for more information on undergraduate fees and funding.
Help and advice
Anyone who has applied to Queen Mary can contact our Advice and Counseling Service for specialist financial and welfare advice. Hear from our students in the video below on how best to manage your finances at university.
Scholarships for UK, EU & International Students
There are a number of sources of funding available for Undergraduate, Masters and PhD students for 2025/26 entry. These include a significant package of competitive Queen Mary bursaries and scholarships in a range of subject areas, as well as external sources of funding. Our database enables you to search for scholarships via study level, school, country or all.
UG Field trip costs
Students on our Biology BSc and Zoology BSc degrees will have optional and compulsory fieldwork modules. Compulsory fieldwork will not cost you anything extra. For optional overseas fieldwork, you will need to cover the cost of your flight and contribute towards accommodation and food. Full and partial bursaries are available. Destinations can vary year-on-year, are subject to availability, and depend on the modules you choose.
