What influenced your decision to study at Queen Mary?

I decided to do my postgraduate programmes and PhD at Queen Mary because I did enjoy my study and life there. CCLS has witnessed my progress and made me more confident and proactive. I met brilliant academics and friends, they were always very kind to provide generous support. The dedication and achievement of academics are impressive. Additionally, I am also attracted to the friendly and open environment at CCLS. Not to mention the high reputation of QMUL in the legal world.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

My first master degree at CCLS, was the MA Regulation and Compliance, it was not only theoretical, but also practical and it cultivated my interest in financial regulation. Then I decided to do a second master degree at CCLS. The programme in LLM Law and Economics opened up my way of thinking and trained me to think from an interdisciplinary perspective.

Did you combine modules across specialisations and if so, what were the advantages of this?

Yes, the modules I audited across specialisations were very inspiring for my essays and for my further research.

What was your best experience of studying at Queen Mary?

The best experience was that the classroom atmosphere was always very pleasant and the students were highly involved. Additionally, CCLS provided many great opportunities for students to explore their interests and to network with professionals.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

For my career development, these programmes laid the foundations for my further research, allowed me to forward my academic career and also trained me to think critically in my life. The lecturers also showed me how to be a good academic, they are not only professional, but also supportive and approachable to students. Their encouragement strengthened my confidence to pursue my career goal.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

My advice for future students is be proactive and cherish each opportunity offered by CCLS. I hope all students can enjoy their studies and life at QMUL.
