Year of Graduation: 2022
Name of programme: LLM in Intellectual Property Law
Country: Guatemala

What influenced your decision to choose a LLM at Queen Mary?

I chose Queen Mary because the LLM in Intellectual Property has a great reputation and recognition worldwide. Every faculty member is highly qualified, experienced, and committed to academia. I dreamt of a career in IP and I could not think of any place better to strengthen my knowledge than Queen Mary University of London.

How did you find the teaching and learning?

Every single module that I have taken has been an amazing experience; the professors make every lecture more than interesting, sharing their own experience, knowledge and research. Also, fellow LLM students add an extra value to the experience as they provide different insights from their own experience and knowledge which makes every class discussion an amazing academic, professional and personal forum.

What was key about your programme/ were there any highlights?

The amazing support from the faculty members at all times and the opportunity that we, as students have to learn from professors who conduct amazing research in all fields of Intellectual Property. Also, the opportunities we have had to attend webinars with top guests in the field of IP.

What piece of insight or advice would you offer for future students?

Take your time when choosing your modules. Research, read and ask not only about the topics from the class but also from the professors and the research they conduct as that might lead some of your class discussions. Read, keep up to date with the readings and assignments and use all possible resources offered by the university.

Has gaining a deeper understanding of your specialisation helped your career?

Yes. Being specialised in fields of IP that are somehow new or unpopular will give me an advantage.

What was your best experience of studying at Queen Mary?

Attending face-to-face classes after this weird year. In addition, meeting people from literally all over the world has broadened my horizons.

Would you be willing to share your Testimonial? If so, you could help a prospective student to make an informed choice to study at Queen Mary. (Class of 2020, 2021 and 2022 only).
