In spite of constitutional and statutory change legalising abortion in Ireland, current guidance denies follow-up abortion care in rare cases where a lawful early medical abortion (EMA) fails and the pregnancy continues after 12 weeks. As a result, abortion seekers are still travelling and abortion providers work in fear of failed EMAs.
The blogs series was inspired by a workshop funded by the Queen Mary Impact Fund and the Socio-Legal Studies Association. Dr Emma Campbell (Array Collective and Ulster University) delivered a creative arts session as part of the workshop.
Professor Ruth Fletcher is Professor of Law at Queen Mary University of London.
