What did you enjoy about studying business at Queen Mary?

The thing I enjoyed most was the flexibility of the course. We were able to shape our own course based on our interests. Lecturers and seminar teachers are also from diverse backgrounds, both culturally and career-wise, which resulted in a well-rounded learning experience. The best thing for me was the opportunity to do a year abroad in Lisbon, Portugal. My year abroad taught me a lot about myself and allowed me to experience teaching in another country, which was a bit of a shock, but useful nonetheless!

What does a typical day look like for you in the role you have now?

As a Client Partner, no two days are the same, as they’re dependent on what the clients I look after need. It can be anything from checking in with our clients, to working out a strategy to grow an account, to finalising contracts, to liaising with our finance team for approvals on payment terms.

What have you found most enjoyable or rewarding about working in business so far?

The diversity in what you can do. While I was a student, I wasn’t even aware of the career path I ended up taking. There’s so much you can do, in so many different fields. If you’re unsure, there’s no harm in trying a few things out! I’ve also had the ability to use my second language, Spanish, from the get-go, even in junior roles.
