Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (Social Change) Team wins Queen Mary's Education Excellence Award and President and Principal’s Prize.
The team (Dr Patrick McGurk, Dr Martha Prevezer, Jamie Hilder, Sarah Bryan and Rachel Henry) were responsible for spearheading the development and launch of SBM’s Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. The first of its kind undergraduate programme helps to encourage talent to the social sector, and gives apprentices zero student debt, four year’s work experience, a competitive salary and heightened career prospects at the end of their degree.
Dr Patrick McGurk, Programme Director of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship, said:
“We’re really proud, not only of the programme itself and the amazing students on it, we’re just as proud of the manner in which the programme has been developed. There’s been so much goodwill all around on this project. The collaboration with our employer partners has been really enthusiastic, and the teamwork between the academics and professional services staff, including teams from across the College, like the Apprenticeships Team and Organisational and Professional Development Team, has just been effortless.”
The awards recognise excellence in teaching and learner support at institutional level, including endeavour beyond the classroom or behind the scenes. Individuals and teams are recognised for identifying an issue or area for improvement or innovation which aligns with the Going for Gold strategy and highlights work to address it through an evaluative and evidence-informed approach.

The Education Excellence Awards were introduced to recognize and reward excellence in education across Queen Mary to embed a culture of excellence in teaching, student support and to inform future practice.
