Life Sciences Initiative PhD Scholarship in Organisation Studies

Applications are invited by the School of Business and Management for a three-year Life Sciences Initiative PhD Studentship commencing in September 2017. The PhD project is entitled “Accelerating translational research in Primary care: An East London study and beyond” and will investigate the processes that promote patient and clinician engagement and enrolment in both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials.

The School of Business and Management (SBM) is seeking a well-qualified applicant to undertake a PhD relating to a cross-faculty collaborative project with the William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI). This PhD studentship will be supervised by Dr Manuela Perrotta and Professor Maxine Robertson (SBM), and Dr David Collier (WHRI).  

The project aims at better understanding the development of effective primary care preventative medicine interventions and improve the public health in East London and beyond both theoretically/conceptually and pragmatically.

 

The Award

This studentship is part of 5 individual studentships being advertised and funded by the Life Sciences Institute at QMUL. LSI Studentships are open to suitably qualified candidates from the UK and EU for full-time study. The Studentship consists of the full cost of fees and £16,296 a year for maintenance for 3 years. The School also provides all students with a £1000 research allowance for conference attendance and other research related expenses. Award holders will be expected to be resident in London during the 3 year period of the studentship.

 

Candidate Profile

To apply you will have a first degree (minimum 2:1 requirement) and a Master's degree at merit/distinction level, in one of the following fields: sociology, anthropology, health business/management OR a discipline specifically related to the research topic. Research experience in a relevant area would be advantageous and experience of using a range of qualitative research methods is required. Applicants are required to have an IELTS overall score of 7 at the time of application.
