Newton Mobility Grant for Dr Stella Ladi and Dr Dimitris Tsarouhas

Published:

Dr. Stella Ladi, Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and Dr. Dimitris Tsarouhas, Associate Professor at Bilkent University, have been awarded a 12-month Grant by the Newton Fund to conduct research on “Global Governance Transformed: Explaining the Nexus Between International Organizations and the European Union”. Newton Mobility Grants are offered under the Newton Fund, which is part of the UK’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) commitment.

Their research focuses on the role and influence of the European Union (EU) vis a vis international organizations. In particular, it investigates the extent to which the EU seeks to adjust the global public policy debate to its own goals and priorities. Moreover, the project aims at shedding light to the role that the UK plays within the European Union, particular in the context of the EU’s relationship to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the latter’s purported attempts to liberalize public procurement policy. The project is particularly timely, as the UK role within the EU (and its contribution to it) is subject to intense political debate.
