Developing training in the Mozambique Labour Market

Published:

Last week Professor Pedro Martins travelled to the Mozambique capital Maputo to meet with Oswaldo Petersburgo (Minister for Labour and Social Security for Mozambique). Discussions were based on the new initiatives of the Mozambique government on training and employment, and the potential of future collaboration with Professor Martins.

Previously a Portugese territory, the Republic of Mozambique joined the Commonwealth in 1995 and is currently one of the poorest countries in the world, with a population average of below three for the number of years spent in schooling. Funded by the International Growth Centre and the Department for International Development, Professor Martins visit was part of an ongoing research project on ‘Developing training in the Mozambique Labour Market’.
