Dr Sanghamitra Bandyopadhyay was a contributor to a Guardian live chat on tackling inequality in middle income countries. She believes it is too early for NGOs and donors to pull out of these countries, noting: “Rising inequalities could mean the rise in the number of the rich only and not enough poor moving out of poverty. In that light, there is no case for NGOs/IOs disengaging with the countries and their useful programmes.”
