Comparative Literature and Cultures Taster Session

About this Event: Comparative Literature is a well-established, demanding and exciting subject which allows you to study literature from across the world, and to explore literature in conjunction with other cultural and artistic production (film, music, painting, philosophy). It's all about expanding your literary and cultural horizons and developing transferable skills highly valued by employers. As well as providing an overview of our exciting programmes of study, this taster will introduce you to the key concept of ‘World Literature’ (also useful should you currently be studying languages, literature or politics at school). This taster session is suitable for Years 10 to 13. As Comparative Literature allows students to study texts from around the world in translation, there are no language requirements for this taster, though knowledge of languages other than English is highly valued!

Speakers: Dr Richard Mason (Lecturer in Comparative Literature)

Date: Tuesday 14th November - 5-6pm GMT
