'The Ethics of Intimacy Coordination’: Centre for Film and Ethics Research Seminar with Heath Pennington

What are the ethical considerations of choreographing and supporting portrayals of intimacy in film, television and theatre? Intimacy Coordinator Heath Pennington discusses bodily autonomy, diversity, and empowerment as they relate to consent-based performance practices.

Heath Pennington (they/them) is a certified intimacy coordinator drawing on over 10 years of theatre, film, and television cast and crew experience to enable safe and consensual performances of nudity and simulated sex. Heath is also an educator, creator, doctoral candidate at the University of California Santa Barbara, Visiting Postgraduate Research Associate at Queen Mary, and Associate Lecturer at Goldsmiths. They hold an MA in Gender Studies from Central European University and an MA in Performance and Culture from Goldsmiths. Their interdisciplinary research investigates consent, intersectional oppressions, kink and BDSM.
