The emphasis of my teaching and writing is creativity and storytelling in film and prose narrative. I write non-fiction for pedagogy and for my creative work young adult fiction. Two focuses for my teaching and scholarship are methods for fiction film directing and crime writing.

I am developing work in the areas of narratology for film and also for writing fantasy fiction with reference to Chinese fiction.
