Sophie

Research Officer

Profile

Sophie is a research officer on the UKRI funded project ‘What does Artificial Intelligence Mean for the Future of Democratic Society? Examining the social impact of AI and whether human rights can respond’. She leads the work examining the effects of surveillance on the emergence of personal and political identities. Her previous research examined a recent rights claiming movement among irregularised migrants seeking asylum in Israel. It took a historicised approach to the perception of these migrants as infiltrators based on the relational character of histories of colonialism and different racialisations as they unfolded in this particular space. Sophie’s research interests include performative politics, acts of citizenship, and the conditions of possibility for such emergent political subjectivities.
