Professor Roger Cotterrell and Dr Maks Del Mar convened a workshop at the Congress of the International Association of Legal and Social Philosophy, Washington, 26 July - 1 August 2015. The workshop was entitled ‘Law, Society and Emotion: Recovering the Classics’.
Professor Cotterrell presented a paper entitled ‘Law and Affective Community’, and Dr Del Mar presented on ‘Mapping the Normative Phenomenologically: Petrazycki’s Science of Law and Morality’.Dr Del Mar also convened another workshop on ‘Compassion and Legal Reasoning’, and spoke on ‘Imagining by Feeling: The Case for Compassion in Legal Reasoning’.
The International Association of Legal and Social Philosophy (IVR), established in Germany in 1909, operates on the basis of national sections. The UK IVR Branch is based at Queen Mary University of London, and is convened by Dr Del Mar.
