In January 2022, it will be one year since the end of the transitional period contained in the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement and over six months since the end of the grace period for EU nationals in the UK to apply for a national immigration status to replace their former EU one. As the Home Office has indicated, more than 6 million EU nationals have applied for the national status, but some residents have missed the deadline. In this conversation, Vowden and Meduna will examine the successes and challenges of the UK EU Settled Status Scheme and the way ahead.
