Profile

 
Dr Ercal graduated in Dentistry at the University of Istanbul in 2009.

From 2009 to 2015 she worked in the Department of Oral Surgery, University of Istanbul and completed a PhD in osteogenic potential of tooth germ derived mesenchymal stem cells. She worked as an asisstant professor in Altınbas University from 2016 to 2020.

In 2020, she won the prestigious scholarship from the International Team for Implantology, sponsoring one year as a clinical research fellow at QMUL, Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, under the
supervision of Professor Nikolaos Donos.
 

Research

Research Interests:


Dr. Ercal’s main fields of interest focuses on bone tissue engineering via dental stem cells. After her PhD on
osteogenic differentiation of dental stem cells, she was awarded a grant funded by the Scientific and
Technological Research Council of Turkey in 2017. Her project involved the use of dental stem cells from
oral tissues and the use of a synthetic scaffold for their use in bone regeneration approaches.
She is actively involved in research related to bone regeneration, stem cells and implant dentistry.
