Teaching and Learning Manager (Interim)
The Teaching and Learning Manager oversees and manages the development and delivery of the UG and PGT programmes within the School. They ensure that processes and procedures are in place so that administrative systems run smoothly for all teaching activities and assessment. They play a strategic role in the development of teaching, liaising with the Associate Dean (Education) to oversee and lead on student support, Quality Assurance, ELearning, timetabling and assessment., as well as root and branch curriculum overhaul. They manage the School’s large student facing team and ensure a professional service is provided to both staff and students. They additionally work closely with the School Manager for forward planning, as the School continues to grow by 10% per annum.
Aktar is responsible for managing the teaching support team within the school, ensuring that team members provide a professional service to staff and students, and oversees workloads to ensure that deadlines are met; He continually reviews and monitors administrative system for teaching administration, to ensure systems are effective and consistent across both UG and PGT programmes. He works closely with the School Manager in capacity planning, to ensure that the financial, staffing, office space, and timetabling requirements of expanding student cohorts and new programmes are modelled, communicated, and built into operational plans.
Aktar provides strategic leadership in the School in the provision of data and narratives for the subject-specific TEF and contributes to the annual review of UG and PGT programmes, periodic reviews and accreditation exercises. He handles all student complaints and appeals received in the School and takes the lead on reviewing results from both external (NSS, PTES) and internal surveys (such as module evaluation and SSLC minutes) and implements policies and procedures to address areas for improvement.
He oversees co-ordination of activities relating to induction, enrolment, registration and timetabling for UG and PGT students. He oversees the production of student handbooks, and of teaching content on the School’s VLE (QMplus), ensuring that content conforms to and accurately reflects current academic regulations, and internal school processes and ensures processes are in place for the assessment of both coursework and examinations within the School, overseeing scrutiny processes for examination papers, marks collation / entry, exam board processes and progression.
He has responsibility for Quality Assurance in relation to teaching within the School, providing advice on the production of documentation for both programmes and modules, and reviewing completed documentation to ensure compliance with both internal School and QMUL requirements.
The Teaching and Learning Manager reports to the School Manager and has responsibility for the UG, PG, Student Engagement and QA teams.
