Research Seminar Series: Frugal Innovations – Old wine in new bottles?

21 March 2018

Time: 1:00 - 2:00pm
Venue: FB 4.04/4.08 Bancroft

Dr Yasser Bhatti from Queen Mary University of London will discuss Frugal Innovations – Old wine in new bottles? (abstract below).

Abstract:

My research on frugal innovation shows how this new emerging trend in innovation deals with, makes use of, or overcomes resource constraints and institutional voids to create social value as well as profit generation, the former to improve lives, and the latter to make solutions sustainable. I explore how the emerging concept of frugal innovation that stems from the findings in this work compares with nuanced meanings presented in existing literature. I share insights from my forthcoming book about Frugal Innovation. This book empirically reveals the perceptions social entrepreneurs have of the conceptual drivers, determinants, and key features of innovation under constraints.
