Profile

I am a Registered Nutritionist with more than 10 years' experience working in public health for research and advocacy group Action on Salt. I oversee the organisation’s delivery of the UK salt reduction work, independently monitoring the food sector through the publication of high quality technical reports to encourage food reformulation for improved population health. Crucial to my work is the translation of evidence and dissemination to relevant stakeholders, from policy, NGO, health professionals and the public.

I also work as a Research Fellow for the ActEarly research collaborative in Tower Hamlets. My current research is seeking to establish key contributors of salt, sugar and saturated fat in children living in Tower Hamlets, and working towards improving the food environment through achievable and sustainable changes in the nutritional profile of packaged food and drink.

My research interests are upstream interventions to improve population health, with a particular focus on salt reduction. Much of the salt in our diets is already added to the foods we buy, and therefore much of the work to improve public health relies heavily on food businesses and government. I also have a strong interest in children's health and social inequalities.
