Profile

I am Policy Manager for Consensus Action on Salt, Sugar and Health (CASSH), a charity based at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health at QMUL concerned with the impact of excess salt, sugar and calories on health. I lead policy development and engagement, and public affairs work within CASSH, working across the team to increase our profile and reach. Alongside this, I lead our international work, developing and implementing salt and sugar reduction strategies in Malaysia and the Eastern Mediterranean region. I also work on research related to salt and sugar in collaboration with colleagues at CASSH and international colleagues.

I am currently undertaking a PhD under the supervision of Prof Feng He and Prof Graham MacGregor, evaluating the UK’s salt and sugar reduction policies using qualitative methodology.

I completed a BSc in Chemistry with Environmental and Sustainable Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, and a Masters in International Public Health Nutrition at the University of Westminster. I am a Trustee of the Association for Nutrition and a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) in public health nutrition. I am also a visiting lecturer on food policy and public health nutrition at various universities in the UK and I am regularly invited as a speaker at conferences and roundtables to discuss nutrition policy.
