Profile

Ongoing responsibility for managing stock, ordering equipment and consumables.

Ongoing management of online inventory of chemicals using Quartzy software, in addition to managing Safety Data Sheets and COSHH forms using the Dropbox software.

Ongoing management of Excel database spreadsheets of current and previous staff, student and visitor contact information. This database also includes information of student card numbers, course start and end dates and grant codes.

Ongoing management of booking laboratory equipment using platform LabAgenda. This involves inviting students and staff to the software and giving them permission to use certain equipment. Whoever has booked on LabAgenda first gets priority to use the equipment.

Make initial contact suppliers nationally and internationally for product query and price negotiation when ordering. I make contact by telephone, letter and/or e-mail.

Check COSHH forms for accuracy from both staff and students.

Raise tickets with IT and Estates for IT trouble-shooting and laboratory and office-space management.

Create and edit instructional videos for the department YouTube channel.

Create and edit Standard Operating Procedures for laboratory equipment.

Give general assistances to both staff and students regarding printing, photocopying, locating chemicals and laboratory consumables, ordering enquiries.

Provide basic training on simple equipment such as Hardness Tester, Polishing Machine and Ozone Machine.

Prepare, set-up and clear down Laboratory Practical classes held by Clinicians for undergraduates.

Responsible for laboratory housekeeping.

I have managed the laboratory for 6 months and gave numerous inductions to both new PhD and MSc/DClin students (in the absence of the laboratory manager).
