Having joined QMUL in February 2016 as centre administrator, Lorraine became Centre Administrator in the newly formed Centre of Oral Bioengineering in August 2017.
The role as Administrator encompasses various tasks and is key to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the Centre, involving administrative as well as secretarial support to the Centre Lead, Prof Ama Johal, as well as all other staff members within the Centre.
Support is also provided in relation to budgetary matters which includes research grants and keeping financial records in accordance with the University’s Financial Regulations.
Assistance and advice are also provided to academic staff in relation to HR matters, covering staff and honorary staff contracts; supporting academics throughout the recruitment process, from the advertising and shortlisting stage through to the interview and offer of employment stage, pre contract and termination procedures, induction, probation and the appraisal process.
The role also includes maintaining the Centre’s webpage and intranet pages.
Lorraine is the first point of contact for staff within and outside the Centre, currently holds a First Aid at Work Certificate, a Lab Safety for Non-Research Staff Certificate and is a Mental Health First Aider.
