"My family have been very supportive of my ambitions as I’ve always wanted to study medicine and have worked very hard to give me more opportunities in life. I researched the University a lot before making a decision to come here, and based on the style of teaching, the structure of my course and the student satisfaction rates I was certain I'd made the best decision for me.

"When I was told I’d been awarded a scholarship for my high attainment I was very surprised. So far I’ve been supported by student loans and my parents but to receive something for my hard work was altogether different. I felt very proud of myself, especially because over the years there have been many times when I’d felt uncertain about how I had done after exams so it was humbling to be recognised.

"I feel independent after being given this scholarship, which will go towards my studies. I hope to buy a stethoscope and a blood pressure machine, equipment many medical students have, as well as some books for my course.

"I’m so thankful for this scholarship and to the alumni who funded it. Thank you for being so generous to me and other students of this University."
