Profile

In my role as Performance Technician, I am often in the privileged position of supporting a piece of work from the initial spark of an idea, all the way through to the presentation of a finished work -- whether that takes place on a stage, in a gallery, online, under a bridge, or inside a pitch black freight container. The most rewarding part of my role is the opportunity to collaborate with students and staff by using my technical knowledge and experience to help steer a project in a useful direction. I work with students on modules across the undergraduate programmes in Drama; and I also support academic staff in the development and presentation of practice-research projects.

I studied on the Recording Arts program at The School of Audio Engineering and graduated expecting to work in the music industry, but I found myself working in theatre after spending a summer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I specialise in Theatre Sound, and I have a particular interest in Ambisonic and Binaural sound design. I usually prefer theatre that doesn’t happen in theatres, and I am allergic to Musicals.

I also work as a freelance Production Manager with organisations and artists such as The Sick of the Fringe Festival, Wellcome Collection, The Place, FK Alexander and Le Gateau Chocolat.
