The London Bridewell 1555-1666: Defining Deviance in Early Modern London

Profile

I’m a PhD student at QMUL. My research is focused on the cultural impact of a single institution: Bridewell, a prison founded in the sixteenth century to ‘instruct and correct’ the idle poor. I have a longstanding interest in marginality and constructions of deviance in the early modern period, both on stage and in cheap print.
