Krisha Mitesh Bid, School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences
In Semester A of my second year, I served as a Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) leader for 13 first-year Biology students. PLTL sessions are student-led, discussion-focused workshops designed to build confidence and deepen understanding. After training on guiding discussions and supporting neurodiverse learners, I co-ran 5 workshops alongside weekly planning meetings with faculty. Over the sessions, students grew from hesitant participants to actively sharing ideas, asking questions, and engaging with concepts like statistics and experimental design. The workshops also provided practical exam and coursework support, with feedback used to tailor each session to the group’s needs.
