Dalila Marra, School of Medicine and Dentistry

The Empowerment Project is a student-led initiative helping students recognise and address stigma, marginalisation, and inequality within the NHS through Active Bystander Training, the 70kg Man lecture, and the Elephant in the Room panel talk. It has been a real pleasure helping shape its development, delivery, and growth with the team and faculty. In my final year, I co-organised and delivered the 70kg Man lecture to 400+ students. It has been rewarding to see the project evolve and can't wait to see it continue beyond medical school too. Through this, I also developed skills in teaching, leadership, and curriculum design.
