Professor Philip Cowley, Conservative tax policy and Labour’s approach to Brexit


A round-table discussion with the Shadow Foreign Secretary Emily Thornberry; the Conservative MP Oliver Dowden; and the deputy political editor of the Times, Sam Coates focused on the latest on the general election campaign, including Conservative policy on tax, and Labour's approach to Brexit. On the subject of the triple-lock pension policy, Professor Philip Cowley said: “What is most interesting about taxation and pensions is that the Conservatives feel able to ditch some of these policies…The fact that Theresa May feels she might be able to get away with ditching these seems to be an indication that she has enough scope to do so.”
