This programme provides the opportunity to spend up to one year learning about a Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) and the design and conduct of pragmatic clinical trials in a live environment. You will observe real time trial processes and PCTU activities and spend one to one time with knowledgeable and experienced PCTU tutors. Participants can choose to specialise in a particular area of CTU work such as statistics, data management, health economics, quality assurance or trial management. Some of your time will be spent on guided self-directed learning and your tutor will direct you to develop an individualised learning plan with access to specialised resource learning and practical tasks which will allow you to fully engage with the PCTU and your chosen area of interest.
Who this programme is for
This programme is ideal for those undertaking a Fellowship, new principle investigators or researchers who are interested in the work of a Clinical Trials Unit. It is not suitable if you need CTU collaboration on a particular trial or other study, when you should follow the usual route for collaboration.
The programme can start at any point in the year, but the number of places at any one time is limited. We usually require one months’ notice. Early expression of interest is recommended. The programme is usually undertaken over a period of 9-12 months but can be customised to fit a shorter time frame if necessary.
