Teachers

Teachers play a vital role in helping pupils understand their higher education options and achieving their goals. Offering support and guidance as pupils get to grips with higher education is just as important as practical assistance with applications, references, and other elements of university life.

Outreach and student support

Our outreach and widening participation initiatives form the backbone of Queen Mary’s 2030 strategy to be the most inclusive university of its kind, anywhere. We are already leading the way in inclusivity among Russell Group universities: of our London undergraduate students, more than 90 per cent are from state schools, 69 per cent are BAME and 57 per cent are first into higher education.

In addition to activities for students, we offer CPD sessions and conferences, designed specifically for teachers, educators and advisors to support you with the tools needed to lead and encourage discussions about higher education. This includes raising awareness of outreach initiatives for students and providing guidance on the different paths available to pupils who may not be familiar with routes into higher education, and the benefits of exploring their options.
