Journey to Higher Education

Queen Mary is pleased to provide a series of webinars and student panels to support you with your journey to higher education  

Summer 2023 webinars released

Our online series of webinars and student panel events aims to support you through the different stages of the application process 

Each session will provide you with information and practical tips to guide you through your journey to higher education. You will get the chance to hear from current Queen Mary students who have been through it all before.

Parents and Carers you will notice specific sessions to help you support your young person throughout their journey to higher education but please feel free to also register for sessions aimed at students.

University Study Skills 

Wednesday 5 April 2023, 4.30 - 5.30pm (BST)

This webinar will help you to understand the differences between learning at school and university and consider the essential skills required to be successful in higher education

; from note taking to finding appropriate academic sources. 

We will cover

  • How learning at University is different to school/college 
  • Note taking 
  • Finding academic sources 
  • Time keeping and organisation 
  • What you can do now to prepare yourself for university study 
  • Academic support available at university 

We will joined by current Queen Mary students who will share their experiences of academic study and share tips and advice and answer any of your questions. 

This session is at year 12 and 13 students.

This webinar will help you understand the benefits of Higher Education in terms of academic, social, economic and career prospects

Understanding Medical and Dental Work Experience

This webinar will give you the opportunity to find out what you can do to help you improve your understanding of medicine and dentistry which is crucial to the application process, we will cover:

Whilst starting university is really exciting its also completely natural to feel anxious about how you're going to make friends and find your people. You aren't the only person to feel this way!
