Dr Thomas Dixon’s latest book has been published. In Weeping Britannia: Portrait of a Nation in Tears (link is external) (Oxford University Press), Dr Dixon charts the ebb and flow of British tears from the late medieval period to the present, and traces the origins of the idea of the British ‘stiff upper lip’.
