1 November 2019

Time: 6:30 - 8:00pm
Speaker: Kim Wagner
Venue: ArtsTwo LT

The Amritsar Massacre of 1919, during which hundreds of people were killed at Jallianwala Bagh, was a seminal moment in the history of India and the British Empire. Yet, 100 years on, it remains poorly understood and largely shrouded in myth. In this lecture, Kim A. Wagner looks back at how the massacre has been commemorated during the centenary year, and examines the current politics and public debates concerning the history and legacies of the Empire.
