Dentistry Athena SWAN team receive silver award

Published:

Many congratulations to the Dentistry Athena SWAN Self-Assessment Team (SAT) who have led the Institute of Dentistry to a Silver Award. This is an exceptional achievement by the Dentistry SAT team, led by Mangala Patel, with the Faculty now a holder of two Silver awards for both Medicine and Dentistry. The award is a clear indicator of the progress that the Faculty is making towards establishing a positive, progressive, and flourishing environment for all our staff and students, and sets a fantastic precedent for even greater strides towards establishing an inclusive culture across all our areas of work and interactions. Steve Thornton, Vice-Principal (Health) and Executive Dean for the School of Medicine and Dentistry, commented:

This is a fantastic achievement for Dentistry and for Mangala and her team, who I know have dedicated much time, energy, and commitment into the application, showcasing the remarkable work that the team have undertaken to move the Institute of Dentistry from a Bronze to a Silver Award. On behalf of the Faculty, I would like to offer the Dentistry SAT team my sincere thanks for their incredible dedication to driving forward initiatives which champion the principles of equality and inclusivity, and which are the backbone of the Faculty’s mission.
