There are a number of ways to support your local community during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Volunteering at Barts Health Trust
We are proud to be partnering with Barts Health NHS Trust in providing essential volunteer resource for the Covid-19 response effort. Many of our clinical academic, nursing, and allied health staff have been working tirelessly on the frontline to provide care for our local community in these unprecedented times. NHS Volunteer Responders
NHS Volunteer Responders has been set up to support the NHS during the COVID-19 outbreak. Tasks include patient transport, vaccination marshalls, community response, and telephone support. Recruitment has been temporarily paused but register to be informed when this reopens.
Vaccination volunteer roles with St John Ambulance
St John Ambulance are recruiting 30,000 volunteers to support local vaccination efforts. There are three roles available – Vaccination Care Volunteer, Volunteer Patient Advocate and Volunteer Vaccinators. Some people, specifically the volunteer vaccinators, will be able to give vaccinations, but others are there to support people as they go through the process of receiving a vaccination. All roles are available in a variety of locations with a minimum time commitment of 2 shifts of up to 8 hours each (16 hours in total a month).
Local Mutual Aid groups
Mutual Aid groups have formed in neighbourhoods across the UK to support local residents – find your local group.
Your local foodbank
Find your local foodbank to volunteer your time to support people in your local area.
FoodCycle has hubs across London and the UK and turns surplus food from supermarkets and restaurants into community meals. They are looking for volunteers to help run their new Cook and Collect meal scheme.
