Kojo Koram on Britain and the Aftermath of Empire

When: Friday, December 2, 2022, 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
Where: Queen Mary University of London & University of London Institute in Paris, 9-11, rue de Constantine, 75007 Paris, France

The event is organised by Queen Mary University of London and is part of Centre for European Research Paris seminar series 'The Idea of Europe: Past, Present and Future.'

In his recent book Uncommon Wealth, Dr. Kojo Koram (Birkbeck) traces how the end of the British empire enriched elites at the expense of ordinary people in Britain’s former colonies. Ricocheting back home, this imperial boomerang also came to entrench inequalities in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Kojo Koram (Birkbeck) was in conversation with Dr. Musab Younis (QMUL, ULIP) to explore how the history of British colonialism sheds light on Europe's past, present, and future role in the world.
