Research Degrees

We run an active programme of doctoral research toward PhD or MD degrees awarded by Queen Mary University of London, supported by the educational resources of the Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry doctoral program.

With the group our scope of ongoing research is very wide ranging - from qualitative mixed methods studies; epidemiology big data  and machine learning; prospective mechanistic clinical studies; multi centre randomised interventional trials; translational research and basic science lab-based projects.

Currently, we have 9 registered PhD or MD students with 11 successful doctoral graduates over the last 5 years. Our students have successfully won PhD studentships from a number of funders including the National Institute for Health Research, Medical Research Council and the British Journal of Anaesthesia.
