Queen Mary Summer School

Social programme

To ensure that you’re fully immersed in London life, the Queen Mary Summer School has also curated a calendar of social activities to accompany your studies.

We hope to give you the full London experience against the vibrant multicultural backdrop of the East End - from traditional British cuisine to exclusive art tours, there’s plenty to do! Taking part in our social programme will give you the opportunity to build friendships with your fellow Summer School students, and experience the city from a local perspective.

The social programme is a mix of free and paid for events. A full calendar of events will be available at a later date. All paid for activities will be ticketed, with an additional fee, and are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

What’s on offer?

We want you to feel at home here the moment you arrive, so there’ll be a number of complimentary events taking place as part of our Welcome Programme in Week 1.

We’ll give you practical advice about living and studying in London, and host optional social events like a boat trip down the River Thames, so you get to see London’s historic riverside while relaxing with your fellow students.

Throughout the rest of the Summer School, there’ll be events running regularly, with some incurring a small fee. We’ll send you more information on the social programme and optional events before you arrive, so you’ll have plenty of time to plan your social calendar.

Our social calendar can include the following kinds of activities:

  • A trip to the British museum
  • A cruise down the River Thames
  • A Street Art tour
  • A visit to the London Sky Garden
  • A theatre trip
  • East End Curry Night
The social programme let us delve in to the rich culture and the fast life of London!
