You can go abroad for a semester with the Turing Scheme or the International Exchange Programme.

European Exchange Programmes

The Turing Scheme enables you to spend a semester or a year at one of our European partner institutions.

As one of our students, you can spend the first semester of your 3^rd year of study attending classes at some of the top institutions in Europe, like Bocconi University in Milan, the University of Copenhagen and Koc University.

International Exchange Programme

The International Exchange Programme gives you the opportunity to spend the first semester of your 2^nd year of study attending classes in a university overseas. We have a long list of partners you can apply to, including Shanghai University for Finance and Economics, the University of Melbourne, the University of Toronto, UCLA, Columbia University and Hunter College.

The benefits of participating in an exchange programme are countless and will stay with you for all your life. Here are just some examples of what an experience abroad can bring you:

When you study abroad, you will continue to pay tuition fees to Queen Mary but not to your host university. Accommodation and extra costs (such as visas) will be at your expense, but both programmes offer financial assistance to help you cover part of the exchange cost. Selected students will be notified of the grants available.

If you’re not enrolled on a "with a year abroad" degree programme you can’t spend more than one semester abroad. If you decide to add another year to your degree and spend the whole third year abroad, you can swap degree course at any time during your first year of study.
