Daniel Trinder


Honorary Professor



Daniel is an Honorary Professor in Economics and Finance at the School of Economics and Finance, Queen Mary University of London. He works for Binance the crypto-currency exchange. Before that he worked as a part-time consultant to the International Monetary and several investment banks and US technology and social media companies.

Daniel worked for HM Treasury after leaving university where his last position was as Deputy Director responsible for European and International Financial Services. In 2006 he left the government to continue his career in the City, taking on a series of high-profile appointments: Executive Director, Government Affairs, Goldman Sachs (2006–10), Managing Director, Global Head of Regulatory Policy, Deutsche Bank (2010–16), Managing Director, Global Head of Regulatory Reform, Standard Chartered Bank (2016–18) and most Managing Director, Head of Regulatory Relations and Policy, Barclays (2018–19).

Daniel received his BA in Economics from Newcastle and an MA in Economics from York University, Toronto, Canada. Daniel was a Teaching Fellow at Queen Mary University of London whilst studying for his PhD in Economics.
