Hot Topic Lecture 2021

Professor Jason Sturgess, Head of the School of Economics and Finance, opened the event. Professor Sturgess referred to the scope of the Hot Topics Lecture series and discussed the recent developments in SEF in terms of research and education.   

Professor George Skiadopoulos discusses the effects of climate change on institutional investors and asset prices while Dr. Moqi Groen-Xu poses the question, are companies making the best use of shareholders' money?

Professor Skiadopoulos presents some results from his research on how climate change affects investment. Following a definition of some key concepts, he discusses some challenges for institutional investors and presents results from his research on whether investors will pay for their exposure to climate change.

Dr Groen-Xu discusses some recent work on Corporate Social Responsibility and her own findings on shareholder responses to environmental, social, and governance incidents.
